Lenovo ThinkCentre 8975 Video Card

Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while dedicated is a separarate piece of hardware that gets installed. Most new desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a video card to be installed. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are not as good as a separate video card, in general. Dedicated video cards are usually necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Both an integrated and dedicated video card computes and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results.
