Lenovo ThinkCentre 9134 Video Card
There are two types of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. A video card processes the input and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. Most new desktops will have at least one spot available for a dedicated video card to be installed on the motherboard. Integrated display adapters are not as good as a dedicated video card, generally speaking. Dedicated video cards are typically a required piece of hardware for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place.
What are the signs that the video graphics card needs replacing?
- Your display depicts bits and pieces of the desktop
- The computer reboots when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- Nothing seems to show up as you boot the PC
- A driver for the video card cannot install properly
