Lenovo ThinkCentre 9143 Video Card
Almost all newer desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a video card to be added to the system. Integrated display adapters will never be better than dedicated graphic cards, generally speaking. All video cards processes graphics and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield.
What are the signs that the display adapter is crapping out?
- The monitor produces fragmented images
- Your Lenovo reboots when starting a graphic intensive program
- Nothing seems to turn on as you boot the PC
- The driver has problems installing like it should
