Lenovo ThinkCentre 9191 Video Card
Dedicated video cards are pretty much required for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Integrated, or onboard, graphics will never be better than a separate video card, generally speaking. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated video card market, while AMD is in second. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated cards are built-in to the computer itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. A graphics card processes graphics and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. Almost all newer desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard.
Major indications your desktop graphics card should be replaced
- The monitor displays vertical or striped lines
- The PC reboots when beginning a game
- The display does not come on when starting up
- A driver for the video card fails to install correctly
