Lenovo ThinkCentre 9279 Video Card
Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a separate video card, generally speaking. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed. Both an integrated and dedicated video card computes and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. Dedicated video cards are necessary for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Battlefield, Fortnite or Far Cry.
Key clues of a dying video card
- The graphics on your screen produces weird colors or images
- The desktop crashes when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The screen does not always turn on when starting up
- The driver fails to install properly
