Lenovo ThinkCentre A70Z Video Card
A dedicated graphics card is usually necessary for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. All video cards processes graphics and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where it is displayed for you. There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a video card to be installed on the motherboard. Integrated display adapters are not as good as a dedicated video card, in general.
What are the clues to watch out for to know my graphics card is about to stop working?
- Your display produces weird colors or images
- The PC restarts when starting a graphic intensive program
- The screen does not always turn on when booting up
- The driver fails to install fully
