Lenovo ThinkCentre M57E Video Card
Almost all newer desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. A video card computes and renders images to the monitor where it is displayed for you. A dedicated graphics card is necessary for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Integrated display adapters are not as good as dedicated graphic cards, generally speaking. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated graphics are integrated into the motherboard itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second.
What to see if the video graphics card is not working properly?
- The monitor shows bits and pieces of the desktop
- The desktop reboots when beginning a game
- Nothing seems to come on as you attempt to boot up
- A driver for the video card has issues installing fully
