Lenovo ThinkCentre M71Z Video Card
A video card processes the input and renders images to the monitor where you can see the results. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. Most new desktops should have at least one PCI Express slot available for a dedicated video card to be installed on the motherboard. A dedicated graphics card is necessary for high-end games on the desktop like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are not as good as a separate video card, in general.
What are some indications that my video graphics card is about to stop working?
- The monitor depicts fragmented images
- Your Lenovo restarts when beginning a game
- The screen does not always come on as you boot the PC
- The video card driver does not seem to install fully
