Lenovo ThinkCentre M76 Wifi
Searching for a new adapter is simple because all you need to know is what OS you are running on your desktop. The WiFi in your desktop, if so equipped, uses a piece of hardware to send and receive signals to and from your router and modem. It is much simpler to buy a new USB adapter and install it, than to replace any built-in adapter your desktop may have. Most new Wifi adapters are simply plug and play, in that you just plug it in the USB port and the system will install the drivers automatically.
What red flags are there that my onboard WiFi has gone bad?
- The WiFi adapter driver cannot be installed
- The wireless signal goes out randomly throughout the day
- The wireless adapter on your desktop is unable to find a signal from your router
