Lenovo ThinkCentre S51-8172 Ram
Random Access Memory, RAM, stores random bits of information that the computer uses for programs. Having the RAM installed is mandatory even for your desktop to run at all. RAM is a type of temporary storage as all the information held gets removed when the system shuts down. The RAM speed is predetermined through the specifications from the motherboard, and the minimum storage size is determined by the system software. Due to the fact that RAM is temporary storage for the processor, it does not hold files like documents or pictures. But, it has more to do with the overall speed and quickness of your Lenovo. If you are unsure about the size of the RAM to buy, just know that it is impossible to have too much RAM!
How do you know when your desktop memory is on its last leg?
- The main operating system cannot report the right amount of RAM
- The system produces weird errors showing up on your desktop as you use it
- Nothing happens when you power on your desktop
- The screen will not display anything when starting up
