Buying a wireless adapter is quite easy because all you need to know is the operating system that is installed on your laptop. You are better off buying a new wireless USB adapter and install it, than to replace any built-in adapter your laptop may have. The WiFi in your laptop, if so equipped, uses an adapter in order to talk to your router. Most USB wireless adapters are plug-n-play, in that you just plug it in the USB port and the OS will install the drivers on its own.
Some clues of a defective wireless internet adapter
- The wireless signal has trouble connecting during the day
- The WiFi adapter driver gives errors when installing
