Lenovo ThinkServer RD350 Video Card
There are really only two kinds of video cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated cards are built-in to the computer itself, while dedicated is a separarate piece of hardware that gets installed. Most new desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be installed on the motherboard. Today, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. Both an integrated and dedicated video card computes and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. A dedicated graphics card is pretty much required for any high-end games you play on a desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Integrated video cards are almost never as good as a separate video card, in general.
Major symptoms your display card is dead
- The graphics on your screen displays stretched or elongated pictures
- The PC reboots when starting a graphic intensive program
- The screen does not always come on as you attempt to boot up
