Lenovo ThinkServer RD540 Video Card

Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a dedicated video card, in general. There are two types of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. A video card processes the input and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results. Currently, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. A dedicated graphics card is pretty much required for high-end games on the desktop like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one spot available for a dedicated video card to be installed on the motherboard.
