Lenovo ThinkStation 0567 Video Card
A graphics card processes graphics and renders images to the monitor where you can see the results. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. An integrated graphic card is built-in to the main board, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. A dedicated graphics card is typically a required piece of hardware for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one spot available for a video card to be installed on the motherboard. Currently, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Integrated, or onboard, graphics are almost never as good as a dedicated video card, in general.
Major indications the video card will have to be replaced
- The monitor produces fragmented images
- The PC restarts when starting a game
- The screen does not always come on when starting up
- A driver for the video card cannot install properly
