Sony PCG-FXA53 Wifi
The WiFi in your laptop, if so equipped, uses a piece of hardware to send and receive signals to and from your wireless router or modem. Most new Wifi adapters are simply plug and play, in that you just plug it in the USB port and the OS will handle everything from there. Buying a USB wireless adapter is quick and painless because all you need to know is the current operating system on your laptop. It is cheaper and easier to purchase a common WiFi USB adapter and install it, than it is to replace any type of OEM adapter you might have.
Red flags of a dying onboard WiFi
