Sony PCV-LX1 Video Card
Both an integrated and dedicated video card processes graphics and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. Integrated video cards are not as good as a separate video card, generally speaking. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately. Most new desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a dedicated video card to be installed on the motherboard. Dedicated video cards are necessary for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Battlefield, Fortnite or Far Cry. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second.
What red flags are there that my graphics card really needs to be replaced?
- The monitor depicts bits and pieces of the desktop
- Your Sony freezes when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- Nothing seems to come on when booting up
- The video card driver fails to install all the way
