Sony VGC-JS190J Video Card
A graphics card computes and sends the resulting images to an external monitor where you can see the results. At the moment, graphics card maker nVidia is the most popular in the dedicated video card market, while AMD is sitting in second place. Dedicated video cards are pretty much required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Mass Effect, Grand Theft Auto or Battlefield. Most newer computers will have at least one PCIe slot open for a dedicated video card to be installed. Integrated display adapters are not as good as a separate video card, in general. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated is built into the motherboard, while a dedicated graphics card is an individual piece of hardware that is bought and installed separately.
Some clues the display adapter should need replacing
- The monitor shows bits and pieces of the desktop
- The Sony VGC-JS190J reboots when trying to start up a graphic intensive game
- The screen does not always come on as you attempt to boot up
- The driver does not seem to install all the way
