Sony VGC-LT39U Video Card
Integrated, or onboard, graphics will never be better than dedicated graphic cards, in general. Almost all newer desktops will have at least one PCIe slot open for a graphics card to be added to the system. There are really only two kinds of graphic cards, integrated and dedicated. Integrated cards are built-in to the computer itself, whilst a dedicated card is purchased and installed onto the main board. At the moment, nVidia rules the dedicated card market, while AMD is in second. Both an integrated and dedicated video card computes and sends the rendered images to a monitor where it is displayed for you. A dedicated graphics card is required for most games you would play on a desktop computer like Far Cry, World of Warcraft or Battlefield.
Do you know if your graphics card is in need of replacing?
- Your display depicts fragmented images
- The desktop crashes when starting a game
- The screen does not always come on when booting up
- A driver for the video card does not seem to install like it should
