You are better off buying a new USB adapter and just plug it in, than it is to replace any type of OEM adapter you might have. Buying a wireless adapter is quite easy because all you need to know is the current operating system on your laptop. A lot of newer wireless adapters are plug-n-play, which just means that you only need to put the adapter into an available USB port and the system will install the drivers automatically. The WiFi in your laptop, if so equipped, uses an adapter in order to talk to your wireless router or modem.
What red flags are there that my wireless card is failing?
- The WiFi drops multiple times over and over again
- The WiFi adapter on your laptop cannot see the SSID coming from your router
- The laptop wireless driver gives errors when installing
