Because Toshiba has been known to use a single AC adapter that is probably used on other similar units, make sure you check the part number for the correct one. The Toshiba Satellite A100-A105 AC adapter is needed for two reasons, to charge any and all batteries and powering the laptop. If your decision is to purchase a different brand charger, it is imperative to note both the volts and amps outputs. A universal power adapter is another possibility but only if necessary. When choosing a new AC charger, selecting the Toshiba OEM charger will probably be the safest way to go.
Indications your laptop charger will not live much longer
- Battery does not charge up every time
- Most Toshiba adapters will get warm to the touch when plugged in for 10 minutes or more
- The laptop does not operate using just the AC power adapter
