The flame sensor is a contraption that will dependably sense the precise flame during the initial ignition of the furnace. As with any other safety sensor, if the sensor get triggered everything stops until the problem is fixed.
Red flags your safety flame sensor should be replaced
- The whole system kicks in intermittently when it feels like it
- The propane or natural gas has a tough time trying to start an ignition sequence and the control shows an error
- The heat system will not begin operations when the thermostat kicks in
