A transformer is commonplace in many manufactured goods which includes your forced air system as it usually converts electricity from a particular voltage to a different one. If you are going to replace a transformer, make sure to get one that is rated for the exact voltage that is needed. Transformers can all be different and you should be aware of the specific voltage readings.
