The flame sensor is one that will consistently detect the flame while the system is starting. As with other safety devices, when the flame sensor gets triggered by something the whole HVAC system will remain stopped for as long as it takes to remedy the problem.
Cues of a deteriorating furnace flame sensor
- The LP or natural gas will not begin an ignition sequence and shuts itself off
- The entire heating system runs intermittently only
- Your furnace is unwilling to generate heat whatsoever
