A transformer is commonplace in many manufactured goods including your HVAC system as it is mainly used to alter electricity output usually from a higher voltage to a lower voltage. When you have to replace a transformer in the system, make sure to purchase on that is rated for the exact voltage so that you get an exact match. Heating and cooling transformers can all be different and must adhere to strict amps and voltages needed.
Red flags of a poorly performing converting transformer
- Zero power exiting the transformer while being tested
- The main transformer shows damage or maybe smells burnt when it has electricity going through it
- Wrong voltage is measured coming from the system transformer
