A flame sensor is a device that can reliably detect the appropriate flame during ignition. Due to the overall safety issue, if the flame sensor senses a problem the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the problem is remedied and the system is reset.
Clues to watch for to know your flame sensor will soon need to be replaced
- The gas entering the furnace cannot begin igniting and the system throws an error code
