The limit switch contains a sensor in the air handler that makes the determination if and when the air is warm enough for the air to begin normal home circulation. Limit switches exist because if the air is too cool inside the furnace to begin with, then you will never get hot air through the ducts.
Some clues limit switch will soon need to be replaced
- The whole system is starting to run erratically from time to time
- The HVAC system will not initiate or continue to run longer than 30 seconds
