The Carrier 30GB control board is constructed to command everything including the gas valve, the ignition igniter, most sensors as well as the air circulator all together. The HVAC system will be unable to run without the board hooked up and is correctly configured. You should always be careful while choosing a new control board because of the wide variety of systems. A control board that you have chosen should be compatible with both the brand and specific model of furnace or air handler you have.
