Carrier 380B Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor on the compressor has a unique job of cooling the outdoor compressor, because a large quantity of heat gets released and that heat energy has to be driven away. Be sure you buy a replacement motor with the proper voltage and amps as it is on the current motor. The motor can be replaced without the need of replacing the blade too, this tends to make things easier and will reduce the costs you need to pay.
Clues to watch for to know your fan motor will soon need to be replaced
- The compressor cooling motor begins to smoke or sparks when in use
- The Carrier motor does not move the blade
- A specific scraping sound while the cooling fan stops
