In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a thermal resistor, that has a swinging resistance is altered by the amount of, or lack thereof, heat. They can tell the heating and cooling system when the temperature in increasing or decreasing. The furnace or AC interprets the temperature throughout the whole system to make a decision on what needs to be done.
What are the signs that the main thermister is failing?
- The system blower may refuse in the attempt to begin full speed blowing
- The AC and heat system may not even start due to any one improperly set thermistor
