The entire heating and cooling system will not operate whatsoever lest the main control board is accurately installed and configured. The control board is made to operate everything including the gas valve, the igniter, all the various sensors as well as the air circulator all at once. The brand of board you choose is supposed to have a part number that matches both the brand and model of HVAC system. Be very careful when you are choosing a replacement board due to variances between models within certain brands.
