A basic electrical transformer is used for many products including your HVAC system and it converts the electrical output to a different voltage, 120V to 12V, for example. If you are going to replace a transformer, it would be a good idea to buy one that is rated for the exact voltage that is desired. Heating and cooling transformers may have specific specs so be sure you replace it with the same amps and voltages needed.
