The flame sensor is a regulatory sensor that will consistently detect the appropriate flame when the system starts. As with any other safety sensor, if the flame sensor is triggered the gas valve is shut off and the system halts until the main issue is remedied.
Signs of a barely functioning Carrier flame sensor
