Carrier 38EZA042 Limit Switch
Limit switches exist because if the air is too cool inside the furnace to begin with, the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts. The limit switch contains a sensor in the heat exchanger that can determine if and when the air is actually warm enough for the main blower to kick in and circulate the air.
What are the signs that the limit type switch really has a need to be replaced?
- The system begins to ramp up but then stops occasionally
- Your Carrier system refuses to kick in nor will it stay running even though the desired temperature has not been attained
