Carrier 38GXQ009 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor on the compressor has a unique job of cooling the outdoor compressor, because a large quantity of heat gets released and that heat must be discharged into the air outside. It can be replaced on its own without the blade, this may make it a lot easier and reduce costs overall. Be sure the replacement motor has the proper voltage and correct amp current as on the current fan motor.
Major symptoms of a defective fan motor
- A weird rubbing noise when the cooling fan is beginning to turn
- The motor catches fire makes a zapping sound as it turns
- The Carrier motor fails to spin the blade
