In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a thermal resistor, whose resistance is governed by heat. They tell the heating and cooling system when a temperature has been reached. The system control board deciphers the temp in order to do its job correctly.
Signs of a defective all-important thermister
- Main blower could fail in its attempt to get up to full speed
- The whole system may not operate depending on which is the broken thermistor
