Carrier 38MFQ012 Limit Switch
The limit switch has a sensor in the heat exchanger that senses, or governs, if and when the air is warmed to a point that it can be circulated throughout the house. The reason limit switches exist is due to the fact that if the air never warms up inside the exchanger the you will lose heat in the ducts and the vents will just blow cool air.
Clues to watch for to know main limit switch needs replacing
- Your Carrier system will not begin the ignition sequence or run well longer than a minute
- Your system starts to stop suddenly more than once
