Carrier 38QR Ignition Control Board
The main ignition control board has control over the natural gas, the ignition sequence and some more sensing equipment. The ignition control board was always an important safety device that some companies have moved to be a major component of the main board instead of having two separate boards.
Signals to watch for in a bad ignition control board
- Signal from primary thermostat does not get to the Carrier control board
- Every other problem in the HVAC system is inspected and turns out to be a-OK
- Ignition system does not activate when it is supposed to
