The Carrier 38TKB048 control board is created to oversee the gas valve, the igniter, all the sensors and the blower all in one unit. Your air handler will be unable to activate without the board in its proper place and configured for your unit. Be absolutely sure when you are choosing a replacement board because of the many variances of particular brands and their models. A control board that you have chosen should be compatible with both the make and model of your particular system.
