The defrost control board controls when to launch the defrost sequence which actually helps to get rid of the frost that collects on the outdoor unit. The defrost board is relayed information from a defrost sensor located near the condenser to decide when the defrost cycle should begin.
General indicators that your the AC defrost sensor board needs a replacement ASAP
- Your HVAC system will not operate because of frost blocking the fins on the outside unit
- The defrost feature never runs even though there is a lot of frost that needs to be removed
- The control board could display a type of error code if the defrost board fails
