A normal limit switch is a type of sensor switch in the heat exchanger that decides when the air is actually warm enough so that it may be pushed through the ducts and out the vents. Limit switches are built due to the fact that if the air inside the furnace is too cool the you will lose all the heat as the air flows through the ducts.
