A very basic thermistor is a thermal resistor, whose rated resistance changes as it depends on heat. The HVAC system interprets the temperature in certain areas to make a decision on what needs to be done. They inform the main board when a temperature in increasing or decreasing.

- The main fan could never begin in the attempt to engage full speed spinning
- The entire system could possibly not even begin because of any inaccurate thermistor
