The main heat element causes the air to be heated up before it is spread through the ducts. Your heating system cannot produce any heat to efficiently heat, if your heating element is unable to work as it should.
Clues to watch for to know the main heat element has little life left
- There is no heat turned out by the system at all
- Heat element looks like its wearing through, damaged and in dire straights
- Heating element does not heat up or get hot enough due to its age
