They can only be purchased for certain systems that are designed to be able to handle a switch. A conversion kit could allow a furnace to convert burning from one energy source to perhaps something cheaper, such as from heating oil to propane that needs to be delivered or vice versa. If you do buy one you may want to consider having it fitted by your local HVAC guy, so as to eliminate the risk of failure.
