In an HVAC system, a thermistor is a type of resistor that has a varied resistance that is directly proportioned to temperature. They tell the main board when a temperature has been reached. The main control board takes the temperature throughout the whole system to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Indications of a failing system thermister
- The system may never start up due to any one malfunctioning thermistor
- The main blower could fail to begin to begin full speed blowing
