The fan motor is primarily in charge of cooling the compressor, due to the large amount of heat must be dispersed in order to keep things cool. Just make sure you buy a replacement motor with the same voltage as well as amperage as on the current fan motor. The AC compressor cooling fan motor on its own as this can make the installation go smoother and reduce costs overall.
Indications the fan motor should need replacing
- The Carrier motor tries but fails to turn the blade
- An unpleasant rubbing noise as the motor is starting or stopping
