Every air conditioning system contains an expansion valve that allows the coolant to expand into its regular vapor form from a high pressure liquid state. Your air conditioner cannot possibly cool the house without a working expansion valve.
Some clues of an unhealthy expansion valve
- The air conditioned air is not as cool as you are accustomed to coming into the house
- AC unit takes way too long to actually cool
