The Carrier 39-3SI control board is designed to operate the gas valve, the ignition igniter, all the various sensors as well as the blower all together. The system will cease to operate without the main control board in its proper place and configured for your unit. The brand of board you choose will have a part number that will match the brand and the model of your particular system. You should always be careful when you choose a replacement due to the vast differences in certain brands.
