Carrier 40MFC012 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor is in charge of cooling the outdoor compressor, due to the large amount of heat that needs to be dispersed in order to keep things cool. Be sure you are able to buy one with the same voltage and amps as it is on the bad motor. The motor on the compressor fan can be replaced without the need of replacing the blade too, this can make the installation go smoother and reduce the price overall.
Subtle hints your Carrier fan motor is going to die
- You hear a screeching sound while the motor is beginning to turn
- The Carrier motor fails to spin at all
- The main cooling motor catches fire makes a zapping sound while it is spinning
