A transformer is a regular occurrence in most things electrical including your AC or furnace as it changes a normal current of electricity and switches it to a different voltage range. If you are going to replace a transformer, it would be a good idea to buy one that is rated for the exact voltage that is required. Heating and cooling transformers are specialized devices so be sure you replace it with the same amps and voltages needed.
What red flags are there that my unit transformer is crapping out?
- Not a single volt exiting the HVAC transformer while using a measuring device
- Transformer shows cracks or fractures or perhaps smokes when in use
- Cycling voltages is found from the output of the main transformer
