Carrier 48GP048090300 Cooling Fan Motor
The fan motor has a unique job of keeping the compressor cool, due to the large amount of heat must be dispelled into the air. Please make sure you find one with the same voltage and correct amp current as it is on the bad motor. The motor on the compressor fan can be replaced without the need of replacing the blade too, this makes replacing it a lot easier to do and will not drain your bank account.
Signs of an inadequate fan motor
- The compressor cooling motor catches fire or sparks when it is spinning
- An unpleasant grating type sound while the motor starts or stops
- The Carrier cooling motor tries but fails to turn at all
